Crystal Ice (Analogue Melt) 2011
video installation
VCR, VHS player with auto-repeat function, projector, polystyrene coolers
dimensions variable
The Crystal Ice building (Pensacola, FL) is a technological and bureaucratic relic, perpetually frozen in a peculiar state of non-decay since its inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places. A still image of the original folly degrades slightly and accumulates snowy analogue artifacts as it passes through the VHS player.
